Waving hands, taking pictures, visiting everybody whom you acquainted during your stay and the mini-farewell party given to you by your managers and teammates are common sights. Since I started working here I already see many Trenders leaving this company as a matter of fact I’m one of the victim of this “trend”. The sole survivor in the US Corp team Batch 42 (some of my batchmates are in PC-cillin and one is in the PSP) after all of my batchmates choose to resign for better jobs abroad and some choose the better offer in another company locally.
A feeling of sadness always confront me seeing them leaving but also a feeling of happiness since they will have a better “salary” ahead of them that they can earn for their family and love ones. It is hard to imagine that after you spent happy moments with them that seems will never end and some of them thought you great things by sharing their product expertise will now be memories at all, not like when they are here everyday where you share jokes, breakfast together and tons of funny stuff always helps you to relax a bit in this very stressful job. Trend Micro’s battle cry is the “4C + T” and “Change” is included in that value, but unfortunately I’m having the dose of the same medicine by having a constant change of people I interact with.
Nobody believes in me when I started here and only few gave me a chance to show my stuff. I’m already in the brink of being “eliminated” since I had a hard time during my close case presentation but my “first” manager gave me a month to show what I have got. Its all or nothing, live or die, shipped-in or shipped-out was my only choice if I will not pass to the metrics that they will set it means “Goodbye Trend Micro”. Due to my manager’s outmost help and assistance I barely made it, 85% at the CSAT for 80% they set!! Whew!! Sad to say, that manager that gave me a chance has already tendered his resignation few days ago.
Love of the family, “greener pastures” and career advancement are the main reasons why they leave in this company. I cannot stop those people to leave but if I have the power to stop them why not because they are my family here, a close relative. I love everybody here in Trend even those “stupid ones” and “matataray” plus those managers that have less care for the engineers, I really love all of them because without each person the cast will not be complete and each chapter of my life here will not be written correctly without the good ones and the villains. Goodbyes are now a good part of my life that I should learn how to deal with since this hand-waving moments are natures way of saying, “We are here only temporarily and the our real world is still ahead of us”.
